Our goal at LaVare’s House is not only to provide residents with safe and sober living facilities in the short term, but also to provide residents with the tools and support necessary to give residents the best shot at long-terms sobriety. All qualified candidates MUST have a minimum of 28 days drug and alcohol free; if an applicant is not referred by a treatment facility as part of an exit plan, the applicant must provide references that attest to their continued sobriety. The bottom line is: how badly do you want a life filled with happiness, joy and freedom AND, how hard are you willing to work to get it?
Recovery Coaching and Life Mentoring
The director is a certified recovery coach and will provide guidance and life coaching to help individual residents start living life again. LaVare’s House provides weekly one-on-one meetings with the director and hosts weekly house 12-step meetings with the house manager. Guest speakers will occasionally visit LaVare’s House to offer experience, strength and hope to residents and/or offer guidance in certain areas of expertise.
Guided daily meditation and yoga/exercise, weight training and other exercise options are available to residents, to encourage physical well-being and self-care. Leadership and personal responsibility are taught and encouraged through a variety of assigned tasks such as household commitments and volunteering with local charity groups.
The LaVare’s House program is based in 12-step principles; therefore, regular attendance of 12-step meetings is mandatory for all residents. All residents are required to find a home group meeting, participate in recovery activities and work with a 12-step sponsor. If a resident has trouble finding a sponsor, LaVare’s House will assist in finding a temporary sponsor.
LaVare’s House has a zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and regular and random drug screenings are performed as part of the LaVare’s House policy. Failure to submit to a test constitutes immediate expulsion from the house.
